The Purple People Bridge is a favorite for walkers and bikers leading to parks on the Ohio side of the river and to Newport on the Levee. The city of Newport recently received a $650,000 grant to study the aging superstructure both above and below water. The Purple People Bridge is already used for art events, weddings, and marathons. Because of its unique nature and location, many developers see the PPB as a great opportunity and have submitted plans to the Newport/Southbank Bridge Board for evaluation. The engineering study will trigger even more opportunities on the bridge. Stay tuned!
