Southbank Partners, community stakeholders celebrate grand opening of newest stretch of Riverwalk in Ludlow
Southbank Partners joined community members, elected officials, and project partners this week, to celebrate the latest ribbon-cutting for The Riverwalk in Ludlow.
The milestone marked another important step toward completing the full 20-mile Riverwalk spanning across eight cities along the south bank of the Ohio River.
Each phase of the Riverwalk brings Southbank Partners one step closer to achieving the vision of Riverfront Commons, Northern Kentucky’s Riverfront District, a world-class active destination with breathtaking views, diverse cultural experiences, and endless outdoor adventures.
“The Riverwalk is more than just a paved trail, but rather an active transportation system for urban living and a defining part of our region’s riverfront,” said Will Weber, President and CEO of Southbank Partners. “Each new phase creates more opportunities to experience the riverfront while continuing to connect people to shared places through recreation, placemaking, and regional collaboration.”
Southbank Partners and the City of Ludlow officially opened the newest stretch of The Riverwalk during the celebration, recognizing the partners and community leaders who helped make this project possible.
“This project is an investment in Ludlow’s future and the experience of everyone who lives, works, and visits here. We are proud to work with Southbank Partners to continue expanding access to our riverfront and to be part of a regional effort that is creating something truly special for Northern Kentucky, said Mayor Sarah Thompson. “For generations, the river has been one of Ludlow’s greatest assets, and projects like this help reconnect our community to it in a meaningful way. I’m excited to see families, residents, and visitors continue to enjoy and activate this space for years to come.”
The event featured an official ribbon cutting, project partner recognition, complimentary gifts, remarks from elected officials, new views of the river, and opportunities for neighbors and community leaders to explore the newest stretch of The Riverwalk.
